Adolescent sexual and reproductive health is paramount as it directly impacts the well-being of young people and their future. Adolescents are at a critical stage of development where they experience significant physical, emotional, and social changes. Access to accurate information, education, and services related to sexual and reproductive health enables them to make informed decisions about their health and relationships and to prevent unintended pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and other health risks. Promoting adolescent sexual and reproductive health is crucial for ensuring their right to health, education, and well-being and for building a healthy and empowered future generation. This module has been adopted based on World Health Organization (WHO) standards, Ministry of Health Malaysia's SRH Module and developed based on the suitability of local context by two PhD candidates and supervised by the experts from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.
To enhance the well-being and empower young people and their parents by providing comprehensive and culturally sensitive information, education, and services related to adolescent sexual and reproductive health. Our objective is to foster open communication between adolescents and their parents, equipping both generations with the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed decisions about health, relationships, and family planning. This approach aims to strengthen family bonds and prevent unintended pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and other associated health risks.
Our mission is to promote and prioritize the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and their parents, recognizing the critical importance of this stage in family development. We are dedicated to ensuring that families have access to accurate information and resources that enable open and constructive conversations, allowing both parents and adolescents to navigate the challenges of adolescence together. Through collaboration with experts, adherence to global health standards, and contextual adaptation, we strive to empower families in Malaysia and beyond for a healthier and more resilient future.
We envision a future where every adolescent and their parents have the knowledge and support needed to achieve optimal sexual and reproductive health as a family unit. Our vision is to contribute to the creation of a society where families are equipped with the tools to engage in open, respectful, and informed discussions about sexual and reproductive health. By upholding the standards set by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health Malaysia, our vision is to be a leading force in advancing adolescent and family sexual and reproductive health in the local and global context. Together, we aim to build a community that values and prioritizes the well-being of its youth and supports parents in guiding their children toward a healthy and empowered future.
